How paired English lessons work
Two people, one Cambridge CELTA-qualified tutor, 55 minutes online. It's the same format as our individual English lessons: the same tutor, on the same day and at the same time every week, with a plan and every lesson's materials in MyMEI. Most pairs take one lesson a week; some take two.
With two people, the lesson changes shape. You talk to each other, not only to the tutor. You hear the other person's mistakes and the corrections. And the tutor can build tasks for two: a discussion, a role play, a meeting you run together. The lesson is still built around speaking, and with two people you speak even more.
Why bring a colleague
The hard part of learning English as an adult isn't the grammar. It's Tuesday evening, when you're tired and there's a good reason to skip. With a colleague, two people expect each other, and a tutor expects both. It's harder to skip, and easier to keep going.
Colleagues also share the same English: the same clients, the same meetings, the same emails. So the plan can work on real situations from your job. Friends work too. What matters is a similar goal, and a week where the same slot works for both of you.
What paired lessons cost
Paired lessons cost €24 per person, per lesson. For the pair, one 55-minute lesson is 2 × €24. With one lesson a week, a month with four lessons is 4 × €24 each; with two lessons a week, 8 × €24 each. Month by month, with no packages.
An individual lesson costs €35. In a pair, each of you pays less, and you share the tutor's time. If you want every minute on your own English, individual lessons are the right format. The pricing page puts the two side by side.
You pay for the calendar month in advance, at the start of the month, with a regular invoice. The pair can pay once, or each of you separately with your own invoice: as you prefer.
Before you start: two things to agree
A pair works when both people want it. Before the first call, agree on two things: why you want to learn English, and which slot you can both keep every week. Your levels don't need to be identical, but they can't be far apart: Marcus looks at this with you in the call and tells you plainly whether working as a pair will be productive. The rest, from the plan to the materials, is our job.
